Nicole Harper launched Acorn Studios (now Geekware) in 2004 after a 5-year stint as a professional Waste Management Engineer to transform obsolete electronic waste into fun and geeky gifts. Geekware now launched the new MAC-ware range on popular demand.
Baglady 2.0 is a performance with a customized electronic performance tool, a bag that is embedded with a platform for broadcasting sound, digital images [video] and text. This Data is mapped via GPS to the place where collection takes place. You can see the recent activities of the bag.
In a recent article in Artforum, "Domesticity at War: Beatriz Colomina and Homi K Bhabha in Conversation" (Summer 2007, pp. 442-447), Colomina and Bhabha explore how the mediations of public and private in the context of war are domesticated and inform developments in fashion, design and architecture.
The Baglady is a hunter-gatherer of ephemeral moments. She carries a bag with an antenna, and embedded board that catptures these and transmits this to a server.

The kestnergesellschaft presents helmut lang – alles gleich schwer, the first institutional solo exhibition of artistic work by Helmut Lang, one of the most prominent and influential cultural figures of our time. Lang’s most recent body of work marks the logical conclusion to a constantly rearranging equation. Turning away from the physical body and its social articulation through clothes, Lang has created a series of objects that address the intersection of public and private experience as it is recorded through mythologies both personal and shared.

From the program: The benefits of context awareness and the critical role of user interfaces for mobile and in particular for wearable computing applications have been widely discussed in the academic world for well over 10 years. Nevertheless, we see limited adoption of these findings in the implementation of both professional and consumer applications. The goal of the workshop is to bring together researchers from academia and industry to discuss the reasons and gain a better understanding of the techniques available, their benefits and limits. The focus on professional applications is based on the assumption that these applications, the activities of the end users and the circumstances under which these activities are performed are well defined and thus yield a good basis for research activities such as qualitative and quantitative evaluation.

Vom Programm: Nomadische Benutzungsschnittstellen und Wearable-Computing Lösungen für mobile Tätigkeiten sind eine Herausforderung an die Methodik der Anforderungsermittlung, an die Entwicklung von Interaktionsmetaphern und -technologien sowie an die Evaluation von Technik, die unmittelbar am Körper der BenutzerIn platziert ist und dort auch für einen längern Zeitraum verbleibt. Es gibt hierzu Entwicklungen, aber es gibt vor allem Diskussionsbedarf über disziplinäre Grenzen hinaus. Im Workshop sollen auf der Basis von konkreten Beispielen und Erfahrungen und mit Fokus auf professionelle mobile Tätigkeiten jenseits von Freizeit oder Schreibtischarbeit sowie auf mobile bzw. wearable-computing Lösungen für diese Tätigkeiten die erforderlichen Veränderungen des Arbeits- und Technikgestaltungsprozesses herausgearbeitet werden.
