First International Workshop on Context-awareness and User
Interfaces for Professional Applications of Mobile and Wearable
Computing
will be held at the 4th IEEE International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Computing, Networking and Communications
October 12 - 14, 2008
Avignon, France
From the program: The benefits of context awareness and the critical role of user interfaces for mobile and in particular for wearable computing applications have been widely discussed in the academic world for well over 10 years. Nevertheless, we see limited adoption of these findings in the implementation of both professional and consumer applications. The goal of the workshop is to bring together researchers from academia and industry to discuss the reasons and gain a better understanding of the techniques available, their benefits and limits. The focus on professional applications is based on the assumption that these applications, the activities of the end users and the circumstances under which these activities are performed are well defined and thus yield a good basis for research activities such as qualitative and quantitative evaluation.
